Through these actions, we will be receptive, relevant, relational, and real with our community.   We are currently seeking a Case Manager for our Wicihitowin program. Wicihitowin (formally known as Hope Homes for Indigenous Youth) is a program that provides safe and stable housing options and individualized supports for youth, 16-24 years old, who are Indigenous and experiencing homeless or are at risk of homelessness. Wicihitowin (phonetic spelling: Wi-Chi-Hi-Towin) is a Cree word that means "to help mutually" and "the act of helping one another." Connected to three other Cree words that mean love, empathy and kindness for all living beings. Wicihitowin operates from Housing First, Harm Reduction and Indigenous Trauma Informed Practice and Building Connections models of care and integrates a holistic Indigenous worldview.
Wicihitowin works with youth to:
  • Access housing options including independent living, shared accommodation, supportive roommates, and community housing
  • Engage in cultural learning and spirituality by participating in ceremony and cultural teachings.
  • Learn and apply life skills through traditional experiential and healing practices centred in Indigenous knowledge systems of knowing, being, doing, and relating/connecting.
  • Strengthen relationships with family and friends through ceremony, community engagement and attending traditional events and activities.
  • Progress towards their educational and employment goals.
  • Bridge access to Indigenous resources and services including Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous people's unique histories, languages, cultural practices, spiritual beliefs and knowledge systems; excellent organizational and communication skills; knowledge of youth homelessness, community resources and experience in case management. We are looking for an individual who shares McMan's core values of Respect, Trust, Empathy, Genuineness and Commitment.   The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree or diploma in Human Services
  • Completed the Indigenous Canada Course (University of Alberta) or an equivalent Indigenous Studies Course
  • Three (3) years' experience working with Indigenous youth
  • Knowledge of the Natural Supports Framework and Trauma Informed Practice Framework
  • Strong writing, organizational, program planning and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with HMIS data preferred.
  • Current standard First Aid Certification and Suicide Intervention Training
  • A current Police Check and Child Intervention check is also required (within six months)
  • A valid Driver's license and adequate insurance coverage ($2 million in third-party liability)
  • The ability to work a flexible and fast paced schedule and the ability to be on an on-call rotation within the organization
