Math and Reading Assistant/Grader

Graders and Assistants have the closest contact with our students and consequently have the greatest impact on the students' experiences at the Kumon centre. It is imperative that a professional appearance and relationship be presented at all times while in the Centre. As a Grader or Assistant job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Greet the students by name and make them feel welcome.

· Assist the students in getting their folders, taking out their work from home and preparing the work to take home.

· Take note and act on any communications from home

· Communicate to the instructor any concerns about the students' work and/or attitude.

· Assess whether the students seem to be comfortable with the work done at home and can do the assigned work.

· Help the students keep on task and complete the assigned work diligently.

· Grade the students' work and assist them in understanding any correction they cannot easily make themselves.

· Ensure the students have the correct materials to take home until their next scheduled return to class.

· Have the student leave the centre with a positive attitude, satisfied with their experience while at the centre.

· Maintain a clean classroom by disinfecting chairs, desks and other high touch surfaces after each use by students.

· Do such other activities as required to have the students achieve their objectives and to have the centre operate smoothly.

· Enjoy yourself, recognizing that you are a critical factor in helping out students achieve their full potential

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in this field is an asset but not required.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and energetic and possess the following attributes:

· Superior communication skills;

· Strong organizational skills;

· Flexibility to deal with regular interruptions and changes in routine;

· Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment;

· Ability to multitask.

Notes

· A security clearance is required.

· Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills.

· Ongoing training outside hours of work (as stated above) are require and will be compensated.
