About Hamilton Food Share

For over 30 years, Hamilton Food Share has served as the City's emergency food shipping and receiving hub and food systems coordinator for a network of food banks and meal programs across Hamilton.

Each year, we move millions of pounds of food to ensure that people have access to healthy, nutritious food.

We believe in the strength of a diverse and skilled Board of Directors to guide our mission, vision, and values. We're seeking committed community leaders to help strengthen our collective impact.

Board Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment with Hamilton Food Share's mission and values.
  • Review and approve budgets, monitor financial performance, and ensure sound accountability.
  • Support and advise the Chief Executive Officer while maintaining clear governance boundaries.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Hamilton Food Share and its member network.
  • Attend approximately nine Board meetings annually (half virtual) and join at least one committee.
  • Make a personal annual donation of any amount.
  • Participate in community or volunteer events when possible.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to addressing hunger and supporting Hamilton's emergency food network.
  • Strong belief in diversity, equity, inclusion, and reconciliation.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Availability for approximately three hours per month for meetings and activities.

Commitment

  • Two-year volunteer term.
  • Approximately three hours per month.
