Location:

This position offers a hybrid work environment with a preference for candidates located in Toronto, ON to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible work culture.

Overview:

As a member of the Asset Management team, the Asset Management manager plays a key role in overseeing the operational, financial, and commercial performance of the company's solar renewable energy portfolio. This position focuses on performance monitoring, compliance, analysis, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with Operations, Accounting, Community Solar, and other internal teams to ensure assets perform efficiently, revenues are accurately tracked and collected, and reporting is reliable. The role involves collaborating across departments to exchange and validate data, conduct portfolio-wide analyses, and provide actionable insights to enhance asset performance and value. Additionally, the position performs fleet-level performance analysis and ad hoc analytical projects to identify trends, benchmark performance, and support strategic decision-making across the company's asset portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate the operational performance of solar assets using SCADA systems, monitoring software, and analytics platforms.
  • Identify underperformance and coordinate with Operations to understand, document, and report operational issues.
  • Benchmark energy generation against performance models and document variance analyses in collaboration with Operations team.
  • Maintain accurate records and performance databases for portfolio tracking.
  • Collaborate with Accounting and Community Solar teams to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition, reconciliation, collection, and reporting.
  • Reconcile actual vs. forecasted revenues and provide insights into variances or trends affecting project cash flow.
  • Support financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end close processes.
  • Manage and track capacity sales and revenues for assets participating in the ISO-NE Forward Capacity Market or other regional capacity programs.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure compliance with market requirements, delivery obligations, and settlement processes.
  • Reconcile capacity payments and forecast capacity revenues for financial reporting.
  • Oversee administrative activities related to the sale and tracking of Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs) and Clean Peak Energy Credits (CPECs) for eligible assets.
  • Coordinate with brokers, buyers, or counterparties to facilitate SREC and CPEC transactions and settlements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of trades, pricing, and volumes for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Prepare regular asset performance and financial reports for management, investors, and lenders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather, verify, and consolidate operational and financial data for accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual, financing, and regulatory obligations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
  • Conduct fleet-wide performance analyses to assess trends and correlations across parameters such as:
  • Equipment or inverter manufacturer performance
  • Technology type (fixed tilt vs. tracker systems)
  • Site age and degradation
  • O&M provider performance metrics
  • Geographic and climatic conditions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to exchange data and insights used in these analyses.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to support management decisions, investor requests, and portfolio optimization initiatives.
  • Provide visualizations and summary dashboards highlighting performance trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate information sharing across departments to ensure consistency between operational, and financial reporting.
  • Support the evaluation of technology upgrades, process efficiencies, and best practices across the asset fleet.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant asset management experience, preferably in renewable energy and ideally within the solar PV industry.
  • Experience with performance monitoring systems and data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI or Microsoft Access is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective cross-department coordination.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Understanding of financial processes, revenue reconciliation, and compliance reporting.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary:
$110,000 - $120,000 CAD

Bonus Opportunity:
20% of annual base salary

Time Off:
120 hours of vacation and
80 hours of personal time earned within the first year.
Canada employees: 13 paid holidays per calendar year
