Sr Backend Engineer (Rust Expert)

Remote

Duration: 12 months with potential to convert full time

Hours: 40 hours/week

Interview process: 3 rounds (all 3 virtual, 1 hour each)

Job Description:

  • 7+ years of experience in backend software development or engineering – utilizing Rust for Microservice development and Distributed Systems
  • Strong understanding of dataflows:
  • How data moves through systems.
  • How it's stored in AWS S3 buckets.
  • How downstream systems consume it.
  • Proficient in Rust:
  • Can debug and investigate issues.
  • Can rewrite functions and make performance improvements.
  • Ability to identify data breakdowns and past issue patterns.
  • Solid grasp of microservices architecture and remote service debugging.
  • Not an SRE but must be able to troubleshoot their own services.
  • Can teach others effective troubleshooting techniques.
  • Breakdown of responsibilities by %:
  • 60-70% hands-on development
  • 30-40% mentoring/leading projects
