Hatch is seeking a motivated recently graduated Civil Designer / Field Inspector candidateto join the Highways & Bridges group in our in the Thunder Bay, ON location.

We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated students who are excellent at working both individually, as well as in a team. We need you to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both your colleagues and clients through excellent verbal and written communication. We expect you to draw on your University and employment experiences to manage your time effectively.

You bring to the role:

  • Civil Engineering diploma (Technology or Technician program) from a recognized College in Canada and graduated from within the last two years.
  • Must have a valid Driver license.
  • Inspection experience in construction of highway or bridge projects a definite asset.
  • Familiarity with CAD/Design software applications such as MathCAD, Excel, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D will be considered an asset.

  • In addition to demonstrating strong academic performance, the ideal candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, understand innovation, will be self-motivated, quick to deliver and a team player. They will also have a high regard for job safety and quality work.

  • Candidates will also be analytical problem solvers with excellent computer skills.
  • The position will allow candidates to directly apply and develop their knowledge in design of linear infrastructure for both front end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multidiscipline projects.
  • The Candidate will be assigned to work closely with experienced designers and engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring.

Compensation:

Range: $58,000 - $61,000

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
