It's an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada.
We're looking for a qualified temporary, full-time Recreation Therapist to join our team at Evanston Grand Village in Calgary, AB to support a special project. The position offers flexible working hours and is expected to run for approximately three months. This is an excellent opportunity for a new graduate looking to gain hands-on experience or for someone seeking a short-term role that fits their schedule.
Our Recreation Therapist will oversee our recreational staff and contracted service providers, while promoting initiatives and making sure program objectives are achieved.
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Develops, implements, promotes and monitors all social, recreational, and therapeutic programs to meet the individual and group needs of residents.
- Provides leadership and direction to staff and volunteers involved in the provision of recreational services by providing crucial information on residents assessed needs and goals.
- Assumes a leadership role in integrating new residents to the Village
- Performs related duties by utilizing a personal computer, word processing software tools, and related equipment.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Recreational Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation.
- Strong ability to plan, organize and direct the delivery of recreation services.
- Proven leadership, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional ability to deal with resident in a caring and patient manner.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Solid computer literacy in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Successful Clearance of a Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check; and,
- Able to provide a negative TB screening and immunization record.
