What you'll do

  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their inquiries.
  • Assist in merchandising efforts by arranging products attractively and promoting sales.
  • Engage customers with product demos to highlight features and benefits, encouraging upselling opportunities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area while stocking shelves as needed.
  • Handle cash transactions with precision, ensuring accurate cash handling practices are followed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette when necessary.
  • Supervise junior staff during busy periods to ensure smooth operations and high service standards.

Experience

  • Previous cashier experience in a retail environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers positively.
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and retail math calculations.
  • Experience in stocking and merchandising products effectively to drive sales.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with a diverse customer base.
  • Familiarity with grocery store operations is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to upsell products and create an inviting shopping atmosphere.
