We're looking for a Production Supervisor to join our Heffley Creek division, located in Kamloops, British Columbia. The Production Supervisor is accountable for providing direction and leadership to a production crew of 15 to 24 employees and is accountable for scheduling, organizing and safely achieving targeted production levels of quality veneer or plywood. This position involves shift work and may include weekends.

With approximately 250 employees, Heffley Creek Division produces plywood and veneer products, safely and sustainably while producing approximately 180 million square feet of plywood and 28 million square feet of veneer per year, for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.  

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• Three to five years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Veneer and Plywood production is preferred.
• Post-secondary education in forestry, business, engineering or related field would be an asset.
• Strong labour relations and people skills.
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation and effective communication, organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including enforcing safety regulations and policies, proactively identifying and mitigating hazards, and fostering a safety-first culture.
• Responsible for leading weekly safety meetings to reinforce key safety messages and ensure team alignment.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends as we are a 24/7 operation.
• As we are not located in an area that is transit accessible individuals must have reliable means of getting to and from work.
• As part of our onboarding process, successful candidate will be required to undergo an Alcohol and Drug pre-screening.

In this role you will:

• Lead Production Teams: Supervise and lead a team of production personnel, crews of approximately 15-20 people. Ensure they deliver quality production activities in a safe and proactive manner. This involves providing direction, setting expectations, and ensuring effective communication among team members.
• Meet Production Targets: Ensure that all production targets and schedules are met as forecasted. Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Meeting production targets is crucial. You'll need to monitor production schedules, track progress, and make adjustments as needed to achieve production goals efficiently.
• Coordinate Production Activities: Coordinating various production activities is essential. This includes overseeing production processes, scheduling shifts, and ensuring smooth workflow across different departments.
• Employment and Development: As a supervisor, you'll be involved in hiring, training, and developing production staff. This includes conducting performance evaluations, identifying training needs, and fostering employee growth.
• Work in Various Temperatures: Be prepared to work in a variety of temperatures, as the role involves mostly indoor work but may also require exposure to external temperatures.
