Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Family Law Lawyer to join our dynamic team in Sudbury, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in family law and a proven track record of managing complex family law matters and delivering personalized legal solutions to clients in need. This role requires a strong understanding of family law, exceptional client management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. You will be working directly with a Senior Family Partner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal representation in family law matters, including divorce, child centered matters (decision-making responsibility, parenting time, etc.) child and spousal support, child protection, property division, and domestic violence cases.
- Advise and counsel clients on legal options, family law issues, and case strategy.
- Manage a diverse caseload from inception to resolution.
- Draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, domestic agreements, financial statements, correspondence, briefs, and court orders.
- Represent clients in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, mediations, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients' best interests at all stages of legal proceedings.
- Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative staff to ensure efficient case management.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an accredited Canadian law school.
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Minimum of 5 years of family law experience, with a proven track record of managing complex cases.
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal family law statutes and legal principles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases effectively.
- Strong negotiation and client advocacy skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to dealing with sensitive family law matters.
