Job Description Summary

Software Engineer will lead technical development and delivery at Team and sometimes Lab level. They can be a Line Manager who will act as co-lead with the Team PO for overall delivery. In these cases, they will be responsible for overall tech delivery, line management & app ownership alongside their own software engineering output.. Others will operate as Individual Contributors, who are specialists in particular technology areas and will be narrower and deeper in focus.

Location: Halifax West Yorkshire. We work in a hybrid approach with currently two days per week in the office.

About our team

Our engineers are currently working with the latest cloud infrastructure, micro service and dev ops tooling.

We work in one of five Lab Feature Teams.   Each of these multi-skilled teams has clear objectives and accountabilities and understand their role in delivering the transformation of Risk Decisioning.  

Our engineers also benefit from peer-to-peer learning and mentoring via our Communities of Practice, Engineering Guilds and Working Groups.

About the role

Working in our exciting Consumer Credit Decisioning Lab, you will work with other Data Engineers and our PO team and Risk customers, to design and deploy data solutions that underpin the financial stability of Lloyds Banking Group.   Your technical expertise and insight will ensure the products we deliver are fit for purpose and meet the quality and standards expected.

You will use a variety of Modern Engineering practices and toolsets to deliver products that are fit for purpose and meet the quality standards that our customers expect.

What essential skills and experience do you need to apply for this role?

• Strong application or data development background. 
• Essential experience of developing solutions in JAVA Springboot,
• Ideally experience of GCP DBT and GCP Dataflow
• A passion for software engineering
• Current experience within a software engineering role, with a good knowledge of the full development lifecycle
• Knowledge of modern software development practices – ideally, but not essential this would include Cloud hosting (GCP), Containers, Kubernetes; API's, DevOps, Continuous Integration and Delivery and Google Cloud Tools such as Big Query.
• Proven understanding of the full software development lifecycle
• Experience of working as part of an agile team using agile practices and tooling such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence

We would welcome someone that can demonstrate in-progress learning journey towards cloud technology; accreditations (Google Cloud Associate Engineer, Professional Data Engineer, or Cloud Architect) or further continuous development in other cloud technologies.
