Your area of focus.
The
Automotive Vehicle Acquisition Specialist
will interact with potential sellers and buyers over the phone, online and in-person as we look to purchase quality, pre-owned vehicles each month from prospective private parties outside of the AutoCanada customer network. The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for sourcing quality vehicles from the public and working alongside our used car department to quickly recondition these vehicles for resale. We are looking for someone with a driven and competitive spirit, who is hungry to make money, easily connects with people, and has previous experience working in an automotive sales or sales management role where consistency was the key component to their success.

What drives your day to day?

  • Responsible for all facets of acquiring a used vehicle inventory using direct contacts, generated leads, resale listing sites, private dealers, internet inquiries from customers or any other available avenues
  • Appraise vehicles, understand vehicle conditions, negotiate prices, make financially sound purchasing decisions, and insure the timely processing of all purchases
  • Cold call prospects who have their vehicle advertised for sale online or in local publications, also working with warm leads who reach out to and visit the store for a quote
  • Set appointments with potential customers to would like to visit the dealership for an in-person appraisal and potential purchase, converting sales inquiries at a high rate while maintaining profitability
  • Deliver a premium internal and external customer experience by responding to inquiries in a prompt, professional, accurate and courteous manner
  • Tracks customer interest in vehicles not in stock (lost sales)
  • Keeps abreast of current market and current valuation of used vehicles
  • Appraises vehicle trades along with the sales manager

What are the must haves?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to meet insurance requirements for operating a motor vehicle
  • Possession of authorized documentation required to gain employment, in addition to having a current, valid CA-issued Driver's License and acceptable Driver's Abstract
  • Must submit to and adequately pass a pre-employment background prior to employment
  • Open availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays knowing that employees are required to stay until the customer's purchase is complete and their satisfaction ensured
  • 3+ years of experience in a customer-facing role required with experience in retail, sales, marketing, customer retention, etc. Previous automotive industry sales or sales management experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to construct emails and messages in a professional and inviting manner
  • Has the competitive spirit, drive, outgoing personality, consistency, and resilience to meet monthly purchasing objectives while following a daily work plan
