Job Description:
The Content Strategy & Discoverability team sits within Growth & Performance Marketing within the Client Experience Office, where we hold a commitment to deepening its value to the Sun Life organization. We create content that helps Canadians make informed financial decisions and build confidence in planning for life's key moments. Our team works horizontally across Sun Life's business units to deliver content that connects education, advice, and action.
Reporting to the Director, Content Strategy & Discoverability, the Content Development Specialist will create bilingual digital content that's engaging, easy to understand, and optimized for discoverability. This role requires strong collaboration with internal stakeholders and partners to bring stories to life across multiple touchpoints.
The ideal candidate is fluent in using AI throughout the content creation process and continuously looks for smarter, faster ways to deliver high-quality work.
What you'll be doing
Content Development
- Write and edit content that deliver clear, engaging, and trustworthy content experiences.
- Leverage AI tools for efficiency (ideation, drafting, optimization), while ensuring quality and human insight drive the final product.
- Incorporate consumer and market insights into storytelling to ensure content reflects real behaviours and needs.
- Apply discoverability best practices (SEO/AEO) to improve visibility and reach.
- Produce content that is review-ready, compliant with brand and accessibility standards, and structured for reuse.
- Partner with SEO & Discoverability specialists to embed optimization recommendations.
Continuous Learning & Future-Readiness
- Stay current on content trends, digital storytelling, and evolving consumer behaviours.
- Actively build fluency in AI-enabled workflows to support faster, smarter content production.
- Apply bilingual expertise to adapt and refine content for English and French-Canadian audiences, ensuring accuracy and cultural fit.
- Identify opportunities to test new content formats and approaches to increase engagement.
Tools & Platforms
- Familiarity with content management systems (e.g., AEM or similar) for publishing and maintaining digital content.
- Working knowledge of SEO and analytics tools such as Google Search Console, SEMJI, Adobe Analytics, or equivalent.
- Comfort with AI-enabled writing and editing tools to support ideation, drafting, and optimization workflows.
- Experience with collaboration and project management platforms like Wrike, SharePoint, or Microsoft Teams.
- Understanding of structured content practices (tagging, metadata, accessibility standards) to support discoverability.
What You Bring
- 2–4 years of experience in content development, digital storytelling, or editorial roles (regulated industry experience is an asset).
- Exceptional bilingual writing and editing skills (English and Canadian-French).
- Ability to create content that is clear, engaging, and action-oriented.
- Experience with SEO/AEO principles and discoverability best practices.
- Experience in UX copywriting and/or crafting clear and intuitive content that enhances user experience.
- Familiarity with digital publishing systems and content workflows.
- Skilled in using AI-assisted tools for research, writing, and optimization, with curiosity and adaptability to keep pace with emerging technology.
- Experience in multimedia creation is an asset.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work across teams.
- Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
