Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained at all times.
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate diagnostic images while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Abelsent and Tracker, ensuring accurate medical documentation, coding, and compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Take vital signs and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical records in Epic or similar systems.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness.
Skills

- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in various specialties like pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
- Knowledge of dental terminology and dental coding practices for accurate billing and insurance processing.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members such as dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
