Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained at all times.
  • Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners to capture accurate diagnostic images while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage patient records using EMR systems like Abelsent and Tracker, ensuring accurate medical documentation, coding, and compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Take vital signs and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, providing chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
  • Support administrative tasks including dental reception duties, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and updating medical records in Epic or similar systems.
  • Educate patients on dental terminology, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness.

Skills

  • A strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques is essential for safe clinical practice.
  • Experience with dental imaging including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology, relevant to comprehensive diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in various specialties like pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology and dental coding practices for accurate billing and insurance processing.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members such as dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
