As a Housing Administrator, you will provide a high level of customer service to a wide range of clients and support the day-to-day management of social, affordable, and low end of market housing within Calgary Housing. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting annual rent reviews, reviewing and processing rent adjustments, processing rent roll, assisting with the leasing of units, communicating with customers, and resolving tenant related issues. You will also oversee rent calculations, annual recertifications, and analyze household income to determine eligibility. The Housing Administrator performs the duties of a Commissioner of Oaths and is responsible for legal contracts. Primary duties include:

  • Act as the main point of contact for applicants, residents, and government agencies and provide information on the Calgary Housing¿s different programs.
  • Perform rent calculations and related processes including annual recertification, rent adjustments, and manual billings.
  • Manage the pre-qualification list, marketing, qualifying, and leasing. Run the vacancy update report to identify vacant units and find applicants that qualify for the programs available.
  • Provide support to applicants and residents in person, by telephone, and through written and email correspondence.
  • Process billings, financial reconciliations, and generate reports.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED) plus job-related coursework and at least 5 years of related experience in the social service or affordable housing sector; OR
  • A completed 1 year certificate in a related field and at least 3 years of related experience; OR
  • A completed 2 year diploma and at least 1 year of related experience.
  • Applicants must be eligible to obtain a Commissioner of Oath appointment.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and diverse communities.
  • Experience working in a government setting or regulated environment.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Yardi and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • De-escalation training, conflict resolution, and mental health first aid.
  • Training and experience in accounting or financial analysis.
  • Work experience with the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA), Social Housing Accommodation Regulations (SHAR) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) legislations.
  • Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus, demonstrated ability to analyze documents, problem solve, multitask, and prioritize a heavy workload with stringent deadlines.
