ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the daily accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial information. This senior role supports the entire accounting cycle, including year-end and audits, through reconciliations, variance analysis, reporting and preparing supporting documentation. The Senior Accountant also contributes to the development and refinement of financial procedures, ensuring that processes are well-documented, efficient, and aligned with organizational standards.

As a member of the AEI Corporate Finance Team, the Senior Accountant reports to the Financial Controller and is responsible for providing accounting and financial support to the entire AEI organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience and Knowledge Required for the Position include:

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or a relevant discipline. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

• Minimum six (6) years of related experience, which must include three (3) years in an accounting role within a complex financial environment. Subject to the response to this competition, the required years of experience may be increased.

• Knowledge of accounting and financial principles.

Desired qualifications or assets for the position include:

• A CPA designation or equivalent or enrollment in the program.

• Knowledge of QuickBooks, preferably Online Advanced.

• Experience processing payroll.

• Knowledge of ADP or equivalent payroll systems.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Financial Services

• Performs daily accounting functions, ensures accurate, timely and completeness of financial information.

• Conducts reconciliations and analysis to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Supports the full accounting cycle, including year-end work and preparing financial documentation for audits.

• Manages the payroll function.

• Ensures compliance with internal controls, policies and regulations.

• Assists in implementing and monitoring accounting procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Office Location: 565 Priestman Street, Suite 301, Fredericton, New Brunswick.

• Your Team: Corporate Finance

• Hours of work: This position generally follows standard business hours of 8:15am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday; however, occasional work outside these hours may be required to meet operational needs and is considered part of the regular duties and compensation for the role.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

AEI offers a competitive salary ranging from $66,925 - $93,470 and offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and dental benefits and RRSP matching.
