Job Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator / Dispatcher is responsible for managing customer load requests, coordinating truck schedules, and ensuring timely pickups and deliveries. The role involves planning routes, scheduling preloads, loading, and deliveries, and tracking all activities to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and manage all incoming customer calls regarding loads, pickups, and deliveries.
- Schedule and coordinate truck routes based on load priorities, locations, and deadlines.
- Plan preloading, loading, and delivery schedules to maximize efficiency and meet customer expectations.
- Communicate with drivers to confirm routes, schedules, and changes.
- Monitor driver schedules and ensure compliance with hours-of-service regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all loads, trips, and driver activities.
- Solve problems in real-time to address delays, changes, or other logistical issues.
- Provide reporting and updates to management as needed.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in logistics, dispatching, or fleet coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with both drivers and customers.
- Comfortable learning and using new software systems for scheduling and tracking.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards is a plus.
