We are currently seeking an experienced and skilled Truck Driver to join our team. The Tunneling Company offers a range of fit-to-purpose tunneling solutions, including Guided Boring, Down-the-Hole Hammer, Auger Boring, Pipe Ramming, Microtunneling and more. We manage the entire process from pre-planning and design through to construction.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Operating tractor and low-boy/step deck/hi-boy equipment trailer, moving equipment and materials between various projects across Western Canada.
- Haul a variety of materials such as auger equipment, excavators and steel casing pipe.
- Deliver equipment and other material as determined by the Supervisor
- Maintain a daily logbook as per Department of Transportation regulations
- Liaises with Logistics Coordinator and Operations Manager to determine daily work assignments.
- Operate assigned unit in safe and effective manner, carrying out assigned duties
- Safely load and unload equipment and secure loads for transportation as required.
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment at yard
- Ensure vehicle and axle weights meet regulatory requirements
- Secure cargo according to legislated requirements
- Ensure the unit assigned is maintained, cleaned and presentable
- Obtain permits as required for provincial, national and North American loads
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
- Complete accurate daily pre-inspections and post-inspections, regulatory logs, Field Level Hazard Assessment sheets for all worksites and transportation timesheets on the SiteDocs portal.
- Attend and participate in toolbox and safety meetings as scheduled
- Report unsafe work, unsafe conditions, incidents, injuries and near misses to supervisors and participate in the investigative process.
- Comply with established company and client polies and procedures and OHS regulations.
- Assist other employees when required.
- Travel out of town for extended periods of time.
- Provide manual labour and ground support for moving equipment and materials on the worksite.
- Perform other duties as required.
Experience and Training Requirements
Required
3+ years experience hauling heavy equipment with lowboy and highboy decks
Valid Class 1 Driver Licence with a clean drivers abstract & reliable transportation
- Operate a loader and/or excavator to load and unload equipment
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test prior to employment
- Successfully complete a 50lbs, Level II Health Assessment
Asset
- Safety tickets including but not limited to Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED, Rigging Training, WHMIS 2015
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Customer focused with a team player attitude
- Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail, mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
