We are looking for experienced and passionate individuals to join our team. The ideal candidates for this position have experience caring for children, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and are capable of providing a safe and nurturing environment for the children in their care. A successful candidate will have experience working with children, a passion for teaching and learning, and strong communication skills.
Summary
As a After-School Program Staff member at the Valley YMCA, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of children in our programs. This position is essential to creating a welcoming environment where every child can learn, grow, and feel valued within their community.
We have an opening at Clark Rutherford Memorial School. This position is from 1:45pm until 5:30pm Monday to Friday. On CLT days, our program runs from approximately 11:45am-5:30pm. Our program runs for the school year from September until the end of school in June 2026. The program does not run on holidays or when the school is closed.
Those applicants with an Early Childhood Education Classification will be paid on the Nova Scotia ECE Wage Scale.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and implementation of educational activities for children.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all participants.
- Support children's learning and development through engaging activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress.
- Collaborate with team members to create inclusive programs for children of diverse backgrounds.
- Monitor children's behavior and provide guidance as needed.
Requirements
- Experience in early childhood education or related field is preferred.
- Strong caregiving skills with a passion for working with children.
- Ability to educate and engage children in various activities.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques is an asset.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
