Business Development Manager (US/Canada Remote)

BugSeq is an industry-leading next-generation sequencing analysis platform for clinical, public health and reference laboratories. Our automated pipelines provide rich visualization and actionable insights, saving labs 5-10X the cost over alternative solutions in a fraction of the time. BugSeq powers the bioinformatics for over 1000 labs, from local operations to the CDC.

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), your core responsibility will be to drive market share growth by actively seeking new business, expanding relationships with existing accounts, and fostering connections with regional partner representatives. You will be instrumental in selling BugSeq's software and services.

The BDM will be assigned a regional territory and revenue target, working in close collaboration with the Director of Sales. The successful candidate will champion BugSeq's offerings, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and engage dynamically with end-users, partners, and key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Process Initiation: Drive the initial sales process by setting appointments, conducting initial presentations, and thoroughly understanding customer goals, priorities, and challenges.
  • Account Growth: Increase sales within existing accounts through the introduction of new features, customizations, and other relevant offerings.
  • Lead Generation and Market Expansion: Proactively seek new business by identifying laboratories involved in infectious disease sequencing, thereby generating leads and expanding the commercial sales funnel.
  • CRM and Pipeline Management: Document all customer-facing activities accurately within the designated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Support sales tracking and pipeline management using CRM systems and other required IT tools.
  • Strategic Territory Planning: Employ Strategic Selling techniques across all levels of an organization within assigned accounts that influence purchasing decisions. Annually develop, write, and implement a business plan for territory management, updating it on a quarterly basis.
  • Market Strategy: proactively monitor and analyze industry trends, identify optimal product-customer fit, identify new industries where there is potential fit, monitor competitor activity and provide insights to the Director of Sales regularly
  • Internal Reporting: Conduct weekly meetings with the Director of Sales to provide comprehensive updates on sales activities, business development progress, and forecasting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Genomics, Biology, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years of sales experience, with a strong preference for experience in the next-generation sequencing (NGS) industry.
  • Performance: A strong history of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% of the time; including customer meetings, conferences, tradeshows, etc.

Pay: $125,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
