Early Childhood Educator

(PART-TIME / ON-CALL / WORK PRACTICUM)

Alphabet Daycare is a Reggio-based childcare facility in Red Deer. We implement the Alberta curriculum framework, FLIGHT, and provide children with an inspiring and stimulating environment to investigate and to explore. Children grow, learn and develop through fun experiences.

We are now inviting passionate and professional educators to fill our PART-TIME ON-CALL positions. Educators are required to be physically and mentally fit enough to work with children and be able to work with different age groups including infants, toddlers, pre-school and kinder. Teamwork, good communication skills and a positive attitude are important.

Shift:

Any shifts between 6:45am and 6:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the regular room educators to carry out activities
  • Assist the regular room educators to ensure smooth transitions for the daily routine
  • Help maintain a safe, warm and caring atmosphere within the room
  • Work with children both individually and in groups
  • Work with different age groups including infants, toddlers, pre-school and kinder
  • Assist children when necessary during mealtime
  • Assist children with toilet training and diapering
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the rooms

Qualifications:

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of Childcare certificate Level 1
  • Criminal Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Physically and emotionally fit enough to work with children
  • A strong incentive to develop professional knowledge and practice in the field of early learning
  • Willingness to work within a multi-cultural group and with children of diversified abilities
  • Awareness of developmental stages and needs of different age groups
  • Ability to learn and carry out positive guidance strategies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Abilities to work alongside other educators and employees as a team player

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00-$17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
