Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometric Assistant to join our eye care team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the optometry practice, assist with patient care, and ensure a smooth patient experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare, particularly those with a passion for optical services, pediatrics, and senior care. Prior optical experience is a plus but not required; training will be provided to the right candidate.

Duties

  • Greet patients and assist them throughout their visit, ensuring a welcoming environment
  • Prepare patients for eye exams
  • Assist the optometrist during eye examinations and procedures
  • Manage patient records using electronic health record systems
  • Educate patients on eyewear options, lens choices, frames, contact lenses, eye treatments and related products to support sales efforts
  • Perform basic administrative tasks including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information
  • Support pediatric and senior patients by providing tailored care and assistance
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the exam room and optical area
  • Handle inventory of optical supplies and eyewear products

Requirements

  • Excellent patient care skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to learn and operate electronic health record systems
  • Effective communication skills to educate patients about products and procedures
  • Sales experience is considered an asset and beneficial for assisting patients in selecting eyewear options and other eye care related products
  • Ability to work well within a team environment in a fast-paced setting
  • Prior experience in an optometry or healthcare setting is considered an asset but willing to train the right candidate
