Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Coordinator to join our growing team. This role combines estimating responsibilities with project coordination to ensure sheet metal projects are accurately priced, well-organized, and executed on time. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to contribute to the success of industrial and commercial projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating

  • Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate estimates.
  • Conduct material take-offs and determine labour, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
  • Prepare competitive proposals and bid submissions within deadlines.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to secure pricing and availability.
  • Support clients and internal teams with value engineering and alternative design options.

Project Coordination

  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for sheet metal projects.
  • Coordinate with fabrication shops, field supervisors, and tradespeople to ensure timely delivery of materials and execution of work.
  • Track project progress and report updates to stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, including change orders, RFIs, and budgets.
  • Identify risks and assist project managers in resolving issues to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in sheet metal estimating and/or project coordination (industrial or commercial construction preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, installation practices, and industry standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating software (Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar) is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.

Preferred Skills

  • Licensed Sheet Metal Technician or mechanical engineering background would be an asset, but not mandatory Familiarity with health & safety practices in industrial construction.
  • Experience working with unionized trades.
