We're looking for a Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help nurture those connections. In this role, you'll walk alongside community members who give their time to supporting restorative justice processes, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and part of something meaningful. What Will You Do?
- Recruit, train, onboard, and support a dynamic volunteer team of over 150 community members and growing
- Initiate and oversee projects and activities that deepen volunteers' understanding of restorative justice
- Coordinate and facilitate agency orientation for potential volunteers, community members and new staff
- Mentor staff and support them in effectively engaging with volunteers
- Ensure that volunteers are recognized in diverse and meaningful ways.
- Champion relationship-building between volunteers, post-secondary institutions employees and participants
- Maintain accurate records and provide monthly reports as needed
- Manage data entry, administrative systems, and form processes
- Develop a strong understanding of CJI's programs and the skills and qualities that are needed for volunteers to support each program.
- Work collaboratively with each program area to implement volunteer-related policies and procedures and support the coordination and planning of peer support nights for volunteers.
- Prepare and send monthly internal communications to volunteers to keep them engaged and informed about CJI activities and updates.
Who Are We Looking For?
- A foundation in working with community members who volunteer their time
- Understanding of Restorative Justice principles
- A strong commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and equity
- Post-secondary studies in Social Services, Peace and Conflict Studies, Volunteer Management Studies, or equivalent experience
- Outstanding volunteer management, planning, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Access to reliable transportation, a valid Ontario "G2" license, and a minimum of $2M liability insurance
- Availability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends

- This role involves periods of high workload, tight deadlines, and frequent multi-tasking across the organization. It requires strong prioritization, quick decision-making, and emotional regulation while engaging with individuals in conflict or distress. The position includes physical activity such as event setup and interaction with survivors and individuals who have caused harm.
