CMI Terminal is currently seeking a Full-time Grain Buyer

As an entry level Grain Buyer, you will be responsible for procuring grain products by building relationships directly with farm customers within a geographical area. The Grain Buyer adds value to both CMI Terminal and farm customers through educating and delivering information on grain marketing and contract programs that will maximize their business operations.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Negotiate grain contracts from a defined client base within a specific area.
  • Execute programs within an assigned market center to meet budgeted grain volumes and margins
  • Coordinate logistics of contracts and related administrative requirements
  • Maintain and analyze a database of customer profiles
  • Analyze current and future agricultural trends and service needs
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationships with current and potential customers
  • Contact producers regarding customer strategies to increase awareness of customer/business needs
  • Drive and facilitate the competitive grain contracts offered at CMI Terminal Ltd.

Knowledge and skills

· Personable and willing to work with diverse and challenging customers

· Excellent communication and negotiation skills

· Honest and works with integrity

· Open to and motivated by change

· Efficient in MS office and experience utilizing relevant computer software programs

· Previous experience in a customer service or sales position

· Basic understanding of the Canadian Grain Industry

Education and Qualifications

· Grade 12 Diploma

· Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license

· Experience in agriculture or other sales/customer service function is an asset

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; Willing to train the successful candidate

Working Conditions & Benefits

· Regular schedule; 8am - 5pm with opportunity for overtime during busy season.
