The enthusiastic Activity Assistant works primarily with the The Friends Adult Day Program team to deliver engaging, meaningful and goal directed social and group programming appropriate for seniors. Delivery of programs are for frail elderly, cognitively impaired and physically challenged. The Assistant supports activities of daily living with clients such as meal preparation, eating, rehabilitation and use of mobility aids if required. Delivery of In-Home Respite, Rehabilitation Support and virtual activity programming via Zoom are growing opportunities.

Weekly programming allows caregivers a regular day of respite. At the same time, the program encourages participants with opportunities for social activities in a safe and welcoming environment.

On-site training is provided with a skilled team of staff and educational opportunities are available for skill development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with the elderly in support of activities of daily living
  • PSW is preferred
  • Clear understanding of the importance of verbal communication skills
  • Interest/knowledge of RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES and delivery of such
  • Valid driver's license/insurance and ability to commute to site locations
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be a strong team player
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Discretion in confidential matters and understanding of professional boundaries
  • Flexibility to adapt to client/programming changes quickly as needed
  • Enthusiastically able to lead group activities
  • demonstrated ability to follow policy/procedures for programming, health and safety as well as timely transfer of information

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: From $22.95 per hour
