Cochrane Day Support Program Worker

Community Living Alternative Services (CLAS) is currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Day Support Worker (Community Disability Service Worker) in our Cochrane Community Program.
Position Summary: The Day Support Community Disability Service Worker is a front-line community disability service role that has responsibility to support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies that will assist a person with disabilities to pursue and fulfil their goals, objectives and aspirations. This is generally done through community access, within community settings, as well as within the Cochrane Day Program building. A reliable vehicle and Class 5 (or better) driver's licence will be required.
You will bring:
Formal Education: Some Post Secondary Education is an asset. Formal training in CPR and First Aid is an asset.
Experience: A minimum of six (6) months experience in providing support and assisting with community access to adults with cognitive and/or developmental challenges. Experience dealing with complex behaviors is a must. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
· Ability to confidently provide front line, face to face support to individuals with varying challenges such as mental or physical health concerns
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations
· Positive attitude
· Mid-level computer skills including the use of websites, MS Office Suite, and video training and conferencing software and hardware
· Strong time management and organizational skills
· Must be able to identify issues, set priorities and implement an appropriate plan of action
· Proven ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
Other:
-Must have a Class 5 or better drivers license issued in Canada and a reliable car. Your personal vehicle will be used for work purposes from time to time (trips to Calgary with the individual being supported, outings, appointments, etc.)
-Must be interested in exploring the community and surrounding areas with the person or persons you are supporting
-Must be able to carry personal liability car insurance with a minimum third party coverage of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00)
-Successful candidate will need to complete a Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sectors Search.

Pay: $41,400.00-$45,200.00 per year
