Underground Mine General Foreman
to oversee and manage all daily underground operations at our flagship
True North Complex
in Bissett, Manitoba.

The General Foreman will be instrumental in the re-entry, rehabilitation, and eventual restart of the underground mining operations, currently under temporary closure but actively being advanced for future production. This role requires exceptional leadership, a deep commitment to safety, strong technical knowledge of underground gold mining methods, and the ability to drive operational efficiency and cost management.

Key Responsibilities

Safety and Compliance (HSE)

• Lead by example to cultivate a world-class safety culture throughout the underground operation.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with all Company policies, federal and provincial regulations, including relevant mining, health, and safety legislation in Manitoba.
• Conduct regular, thorough workplace inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify and mitigate all potential hazards.
• Act as the primary on-shift supervisor, responding to and managing all underground emergency situations, including first-line incident investigation and reporting.

Operations and Production

• Directly supervise and coordinate the daily activities of all underground shift foremen, miners, support personnel, and contractors, ensuring the seamless execution of the mine plan.
• Work closely with the Mine Engineering and Geology teams to optimize mine development, stope production, construction and drilling/blasting activities
• Monitor and manage production and development targets, track daily work progress, and prepare comprehensive production reports for senior management.
• Oversee the re-commissioning, rehabilitation, and maintenance of critical underground mine infrastructure, including hoisting systems, ventilation, dewatering, and power distribution
• Implement and maintain effective systems and processes to ensure high equipment utilization, minimize downtime, and optimize efficiency.

Leadership and Administration

• Provide coaching, mentorship, and on-the-job training to all subordinate foremen and mine crews to continually improve their skills and performance.
• Manage labor relations, resolve work-related problems, and recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
• Assist the Mine Superintendent with budget monitoring and cost control measures, including requisitioning and managing inventory of all necessary materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Coordinate with other departments (Maintenance, Mill Operations, Exploration, and Technical Services) to ensure cohesive site-wide operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Required

• Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in an underground hard rock mining environment, with several years in a senior supervisory or foreman role (e.g., General Foreman, Shift Boss, or Mine Supervisor).
• Provincial Certification as an Underground Mine Supervisor or equivalent is preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in underground gold mining methods, specifically in high-grade vein deposits (e.g., cut-and-fill, long-hole stoping).
• Thorough knowledge of relevant Canadian and Manitoban mining regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
• Proven track record of successfully managing a diverse team and improving safety and production metrics.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting, training, and working effectively with technical personnel.
• Ability to work a demanding rotational shift schedule in a challenging underground environment.

Preferred

• Experience in mine construction, mine develoment, shaft/hoist re-commissioning, and/or mine restart projects.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite programs (Excel, Word, PPT, Outlook)
