NOW HIRING PART-TIME ATTENDANTS for our Supportive Housing location for:
- Day shifts on Sundays in the Hunt Club Area
- Evening shifts - weekends and weekdays in the Hunt Club area.
- Night shifts - Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in the Hunt Club area.
We welcome:
- Nursing students who have completed the first year of their program
- Foreign trained nurses waiting for their CNO registration
- Personal Support Workers
- Caregivers with relevant personal experience.
JOB SUMMARY
Providing personal care (bathing/showering, dressing, feeding, bowel and bladder care, use of a mechanical lift and transferring, light housekeeping, etc.) to adults with physical disabilities who reside within a Supportive Housing location in Ottawa. A commitment to a respectful and person-centred approach is an essential asset.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide personal care (bathing/showering, grooming, personal hygiene) and all Activities of Daily Living according to each client's Service Plan;
- assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises;
- prepare nutritious meals according to the client's diet, assist the client with eating and complete kitchen clean-up;
- light housekeeping, including laundry;
- ensure the client is safe;
- adhere to medication assistance policies and procedures;
- follow all documentation and reporting procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
- secondary (high) school graduation, a minimum of one year post-secondary education in human or health sciences. Continuing education in physical disabilities/developmental disabilities/acquired brain injuries an asset;
- valid First Aid and CPR level C certification;
- preferably CPI training for non-violent crisis intervention.
- able to communicate verbally and in writing in English;
- negative police record check with the vulnerable sector;
- negative Tuberculosis test within the last year;
- immunizations records including two COVID-19 vaccination;
- work references;
- legally entitled to work in Canada.
- physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately thirty-five pounds, walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending, reaching and frequent movement.
Our Supportive Housing Program operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. We have days, evenings and night shifts, seven days a week. The day shifts commence at 0600 or 0700 in the morning, our evenings commence at 1500 or 1600 and our overnight shifts commence at 2200. WEEKEND Requirement: We also ask that staff make themselves available to work a minimum of four weekend shifts per month.
