Canada's electricity sector is experiencing significant growth and transformation. As Canadians electrify their homes and vehicles, integrate renewable energy technologies into the grid and embrace the impact of digital technology, it is crucial to bring together employers, unions, post-secondary institutions and policymakers to address the labour challenges confronting the sector.
Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is working with its partners to build a world-class, safety-focused, innovative and inclusive electricity workforce. A key area of our work is convening stakeholders through events that inform, engage and strengthen partnerships throughout the industry.
The Events Coordinator leads the delivery of EHRC's diverse event portfolio, from national conferences to webinars and stakeholder roundtables, across in-person, virtual and hybrid formats. This role plays a key part in advancing EHRC's strategic goals through high-impact events and oversees the organization's participation in external industry forums, including speaking opportunities, partnerships and trade shows.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver EHRC events—including conferences, webinars, roundtables and stakeholder engagements—across Canada in in-person, virtual and hybrid formats.
- Manage all logistics, including registration, scheduling, venues, catering, AV, travel, hospitality and on-site execution.
- Oversee webinar setup and delivery, including platform configuration, technical rehearsals and live moderation.
- Coordinate EHRC's participation in external events, including abstract, registration, travel, shipping and organizer liaison.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to align event messaging, branding and promotion.
- Drive attendance growth through targeted outreach, marketing campaigns and audience engagement strategies.
- Support the Business Development team in growing sponsorship opportunities and enhancing sponsor visibility.
- Manage budgets, timelines and digital tools for efficient delivery and reporting.
- Ensure events are inclusive and accessible to diverse audiences.
- Work cross-functionally to align events with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.
- Represent EHRC at industry events and support on-site logistics.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an organized and detail-oriented planner and communicator, with a passion for creating memorable experiences and building impactful relationships.
- Three years of experience in event coordination, conference planning or related roles.
- Proven ability to manage complex logistics across in-person, virtual and hybrid event formats.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience with partners, vendors and sponsors.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external audiences.
- Proficiency with event platforms (e.g., Zoom), CRM systems, survey tools, CRM tools and digital marketing.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive event design is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Event Management or a related field preferred.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
Work Environment
- Ottawa-based, hybrid work environment (minimum 3 days in office per week).
- Small office with a team of about 15 staff.
- Close to public transport, paid parking available and local amenities nearby.
- Some travel across Canada is required.
Compensation and Benefits
- One-year contract with automatic conversion to permanent upon successful completion of year one deliverables.
- Salary: $50,000 to $57,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- 15 days of paid vacation annually, 1 paid volunteer day, and 3 bonus days in December.
- Flexible health benefits package upon the completion of probation, including prescription drugs and a Health Care Spending Account.
- Employee Assistance Program.
- Employer-matched RRSP contributions after one year of service.
- Professional development and career growth opportunities.
