What we are looking for:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Derivatives & Alternative Investments, the Senior Analyst, Derivatives will provide support to ensure efficient and accurate transaction processing across a broad range of alternative investment products including FX, Futures, Options, Cleared and Non-Cleared Swaps, Bond Forwards, Repos, Private Loans, Term Loans, LPs and Third Party Funds. Core processing and servicing includes: account set-up, trade capture, trade confirmation, settlements, counterparty reconciliations, collateral management, and new counterparty on-boarding. The Senior Analyst, Derivatives works closely with and in support of the Portfolio Management and Trading teams and is required to interact with various custodians, counterparties and other Fiera operation teams to ensure all components of the product life cycle are monitored, complete and accurate.

Your responsibilities:

Derivatives:

  • Trade Processing: Accurately process and book all derivatives-related transactions—including OTC and exchange-traded derivatives—into Fiera's portfolio accounting and risk systems in a timely manner.

  • Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of trades, positions, cash, and valuations with brokers, custodians, and counterparties; investigate and resolve breaks efficiently.

  • Confirmations & Settlements: Monitor and ensure timely affirmation and confirmation of OTC derivative trades (e.g., via DTCC or MarkitWire); follow through on settlements and resolve any fails or exceptions.

  • Collateral & Margin Management: Calculate daily variation and initial margin requirements; manage margin calls and collateral movements (cash or securities) in accordance with ISDA/CSA agreements. Coordinate and monitor all collateral activity through Colline, ensuring timely posting, settlement, and dispute resolution.

  • Lifecycle Events: Track and manage lifecycle events such as resets, expiries, terminations, novations, and corporate actions for derivatives.

  • Process Improvement: Participate in automation initiatives and continuous improvement projects to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of derivatives operations.

  • Audit & Documentation: Maintain proper documentation of trade support processes, ensure audit readiness, and respond to internal/external audit and compliance reviews.

  • Cross-Functional Support: Liaise with portfolio managers, risk, legal, compliance, and client servicing teams to provide derivatives-related support and data as required.

Other Activities:

  • Participate in the testing and implementation of operational enhancements and special projects;

  • Contribute to the development of operational processes and controls to implement new products and strategies.

  • Provide exceptional service when interacting with internal and external contacts;

  • Support internal and external audit related activities;

  • Participate on working groups targeting industry and regulatory initiatives and best practices;

  • Coordinate the onboarding of new accounts, investment types, brokers and counterparties;

  • Oversee and provide reporting for Fiera's Securities Lending activities.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or other relevant fields is required;

  • Completion or pursuit of professional certifications, such as the CFA or FRM designations, is an asset; 

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant derivatives operations experience;

  • Excellent working knowledge of complex investment products (FX, Futures, Options, Credit and Interest Rate Derivatives, Repos and Bond Forwards) as well as P&L and cash analysis on those products;

  • Excellent working knowledge of Alternative Investments including Private Loans, Term Loans, LPs and Third-Party Funds;

  • Strong understanding of OTC Derivatives and the confirmation and settlement process;

  • Good understanding of how Investment Managers operate and interact with Analysts and Senior Analysts, Counterparties and Custodians is essential;

  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, experience resolving trading issues and strong problem resolution skills;

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and external deadlines;

  • Proven continuous process improvement mindset and positive team attitude;

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written);

  • Proficient knowledge of Pacer and Bloomberg is an asset;

  • Experience and demonstrated skills with Excel, VBA and Excel macros is an asset.
