The Pediatric Medicine & Surgical Clinics at McMaster Children's Hospital provides outpatient care to over 100,000 pediatric patients from Hamilton and the surrounding area. It is a dynamic, fast paced environment comprised of numerous sub-specialty clinics that facilitate the unique health care needs of children, using a family centered model of care.

As a member of the health care team, provides clinical support in out-patient care areas. Functions according to the job description for Health Care Aides. Duties include\: ensure efficient patient flow and information flow from the team to the Business Clerk, maintain readiness of clinic rooms between patients, clinic chart preparation, stock clinic rooms with clean supplies and patient education material, support physicians and clinical teams within scope of HCA duties, other duties as assigned.

 Please be advised your hourly rate of pay is determined by the CUPE Wage Scale, and is inclusive of the additional $2/hour provided to eligible positions by the provincial Supporting Retention in Public Services Act, 2022. Please be advised that should this Act be repealed, or the funding is no longer in effect, the additional $2/hour will be removed. Should this occur, your wage rate will remain consistent with the position's placement on the CUPE Wage Scale and the appropriate step in accordance with the Collective Agreement

1. Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aide certificate required
2. Previous hospital/clinic experience required
3. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
4. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
5. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
6. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
7. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
8. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and corroboratively
9. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
10. Pediatric experience preferred
