We have partnered with a well-established real estate development firm with a legacy of delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across North America. This position is open to a strong intermediate property accountant who is looking for growth, seeking a long-term career with the company. We are open to seeing candidates for a Junior Property Accountant also and compensation is based on experience.

Your new role

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and some residential real estate properties.
  • Maintain accurate financial records by establishing, balancing, and reconciling various accounts.
  • Record journal entries, prepare trial balances, and manage general ledger activities to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting packages for internal review.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and year-end recoveries
  • Prepare and review annual CAM reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution to tenants.
  • Compile and/or review consolidated financial statements and support year-end financial reporting and audit processes.
  • Support accounts payable functions, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing.
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany and external accounts, ensuring alignment across entities and partners.
  • Organize and maintain financial documentation to support reporting and compliance requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years property accountant experience - both commercial and residential will be considered
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Yardi) and Excel skills.
