Our ideal candidate is a dynamic leader who combines strategic insight, technical acumen, and exceptional communication skills to unite teams around a shared vision and deliver measurable impact. This role will be working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), leading the development, coordination, and integration of systems that support EDI's continued growth, including client services, operational processes, and team leadership and development.
This position offers flexibility to be based remotely within Western Canada, with a preference for candidates located
near one of our established regional hubs to facilitate team collaboration and client engagement.
Why Join EDI?
At EDI, we are committed to making a difference—for the environment, our communities, and the clients we serve.
We offer a collaborative, values-driven culture, competitive compensation with a robust benefits package (including
health, dental, RRSP contribution matching, profit-sharing and an employee share ownership program), and significant opportunities for professional development and growth. As a growing, employee-owned firm, we are shaping the future of environmental consulting—and we invite you to help lead the way.
Our benefits include:
· Competitive compensation, including health & dental benefits, profit-sharing and employee share ownership programs, and RRSP contribution matching
· Working with a team of established market sector consultants who excel in their fields of science, environmental assessment and regulatory planning
· Corporate commitment to long-term career and personal development through opportunities and support for professional advancement (e.g. annual professional development budget)
· Challenging, dynamic, engaging and rewarding career experience
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
· Partnering with the COO and leadership team to design and execute operational strategies that advance EDI's mission and long-term objectives.
· Overseeing the alignment and integration of operational systems across departments, fostering efficiency, transparency, and cross-team collaboration.
· Leading the implementation and adoption of improved tools, processes, and systems—building understanding and buy-in across all levels of the organization.
· Developing and maintaining consistent project management, quality assurance, and training frameworks to strengthen organizational performance.
· Working closely with HR, IT, Training, Project Support and business unit leads to optimize human resources, data, and operational systems, ensuring smooth coordination and shared accountability.
· Inspiring, mentoring, and empowering teams to embrace innovation, continuous improvement, and a culture of trust and collaboration.
· Leading initiatives that enhance internal systems to support company growth, talent development, and long-term sustainability.
We are looking for someone with:
· A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into action.
· Proven experience leading diverse teams and fostering collaboration across departments.
· Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to gain buy-in at all levels.
· Demonstrated success in implementing and optimizing operational systems and frameworks.
· A consultative approach, with the ability to coach, mentor, and build organizational capability.
· A passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and organizational excellence.
Requirements:
· Approximately 5-10 years in a consulting or professional services environment.
· Experience in operations management, human resources, and/or project management (certification an asset).
· Education aligned with EDI's fields of practice and a record of working effectively within multi-disciplinary environments.
· Experience working collaboratively with a large inter-disciplinary team
