Environmental Services Supervisor

Basic Function and Scope:

Reporting to the Administrator- LTC, the Environmental Services Supervisor will provide overall direction and leadership to the Environmental Services team in order to ensure the fulfillment of organizational goals and objectives. The Environmental Services Supervisor shall be responsible for human resources functions such as the recruitment of Environmental Service Workers ("ESW's)", participation in ongoing monitoring of staff performance and the discipline process. The Environmental Supervisor will assist in preparing and maintaining the schedule for staffing and supporting the payroll process. The Environmental Services Supervisor will participate in education and staff training, when required, as well as participate in the departmental quality improvement programs.

Hours of Work: Monday- Friday Days (with the flexibility to meet the needs of the hospital).

Status: Full-Time (existing vacancy)

Pay Rate: $35.90-$46.15

Qualifications:

Education:

 Grade 12 education.

 Post-Secondary Education (University or College, Vocational Certificate or equivalent an asset.

 Professional Healthcare Housekeepers' certificate is required, or willingness to get within three months of hire.

Registration:

 Member in good standing of the Ontario Healthcare Housekeepers' Association is an asset

Experience:

 Minimum 1 years' experience supervising staff in a unionized health care setting or equivalent in the opinion of the employer.

Required Skills:

 Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully with emphasis on problem solving, coaching, decision-making, team-building and conflict resolution.

 Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing best practices related to environmental services and infection control.

 Ability to work independently and within a team environment;

 Working knowledge of the requirements of Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation LACGH.

 Working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages including Electronic Medical Record and Microsoft Office Suite.

 Strong ability to effectively communicate work instructions and expectations to staff (verbal and written) and monitor quality of work.

 Effective verbal and written English communication skills.

 Management experience working in an institutional setting is desirable.

 WHMIS training would be considered an asset.

 Occupational Health and Safety Certification is an asset.

OTHER

 Participates on Committees as requested;

 Punctual and Regular attendance;

 Performs related duties as assigned Supervisor;

Supervision Exercised:

Responsible for the supervision of Environmental Services Staff.
