Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Hydrovac Maintenance / Lube Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor mechanical repairs on our fleet of hydrovac trucks and heavy equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of our equipment both in the shop and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, and fluid top-ups on hydrovac trucks and related equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs) to identify potential issues and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems, vacuum systems, and water pumps.
  • Replace or repair hoses, seals, fittings, gaskets, and clamps as needed.
  • Assist mechanics with repairs on truck chassis, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Complete daily inspections and maintenance logs, ensuring all work is properly documented.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work area, shop.
  • Support field operations by performing on-site servicing as required.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OHS regulations.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of oils, lubricants, and other hazardous materials.
  • Communicate effectively with operators, dispatchers, and supervisors regarding equipment status and repair needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Lube Technician, Maintenance Technician, or Heavy-Duty Mechanic's Assistant (experience with hydrovac equipment preferred).
  • Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 or 1 an asset).
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Must be physically capable of performing hands-on maintenance duties in varying weather conditions.
  • Safety certifications such as H2S Alive, First Aid, WHMIS, CSTS considered an asset.
