With over 50 facilities located across Canada and 650 Associates, Applied supports the steel, mining, forestry, agriculture, automotive, oil and gas, food processing, power generation, pulp and paper, and transportation industries, just to name a few. In addition, Applied provides engineering, design and systems integration for industrial, fluid power, and flow control applications, as well as customized mechanical, fabricated rubber, fluid power, and flow control shop services.
We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Bilingual Business Development Manager - Integrated Solution Group. This role will be reporting directly to the Director of Shops and Technical Services.
This role can be fully remote, hybrid or based in office. Home location is flexible for any metropolitan area in Quebec or Ontario that Applied operates in, however, preference is one of the below:
- Laval, QC - Greater Montreal Area
- Brossard, QC - Greater Montreal Area
- Greater Toronto Area
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop system integration (fluid power, power transmission and electronic controls) design concepts for OEM customers utilizing Applied's products and value-added services
- Collaborate with and mentor members of the Technical Services team to design and develop advanced power and motion control solutions.
- Advance Applied's position in the vehicle electrification market
- Work with Applied's OEM Application Specialists and Regional Management to target key customers and grow system integration and vehicle electrification sales
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and products
- Operate as an experienced subject matter expert in integration of fluid power (hydrostatics, valves, controls, etc.) and electronic controls (HMIs, ECUs, etc.).
- Technical support for multiple product lines.
- Maintain cooperative and productive team relationships with all stakeholders.
Duties include, but not be limited to the following:
- Leading new application proposals and developing high-level system design concepts
- Lead facilitated co-design sessions with multiple stakeholders
- Communicate these design concepts in customer meetings and presentations
- Collaborate with and mentor members of the Technical Services team
- Developing budgetary cost estimates and timelines for projects
- Providing technical sales support to other CSSR's, TSR's and Applied personnel as required
- Providing guidance on system integration trends and emerging markets
- Develop and lead management of a robust electronic component product portfolio
- Maintain regular and proactive contact with Applied associates, customers and vendors as required.
- Assist in negotiating Special Pricing Agreement support with preferred and key vendors.
Education & Experience:
- Bilingual French & English is a must
- BSc Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
- 7+ years of relevant mobile/industrial fluid power industry experience, including but not limited to design, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of fluid power and electronic controls is a requirement
- Relevant experience in PLC programming (Plus+1, IQAN, CoDeSys. etc.) and CANbus communication is a requirement
- IFPS Certified Fluid Power Specialist accreditation (CFPS) is a requirement
- IFPS Certified Fluid Power Engineer accreditation (CFPE) is a strong asset.
- Experience in translating customer requirements into functional systems.
- Experience in selecting components for mobile hydraulic & electronic control systems.
- Experience with vehicle electrification is an asset
- Experience designing and/or operating heavy equipment (construction, agricultural, mining, etc.) is a strong asset

- Strong verbal/visual presentation skills are a requirement
- Strong Customer service (internal/external) is a key attribute.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to be self-disciplined in driving completion of tasks and daily activities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment.
Working Conditions:
- This position offers the flexibility to work fully remotely or in a hybrid arrangement, however, the employee must be based in or near a metropolitan area in Quebec or Ontario where Applied operates.
- Candidate must be ready & able to travel approximately ~25% travel across Canada/US for customer meetings and training sessions.
