SkyPak / Big Sky Brands is a confectionery company established in 1999. We specialize in premium tinned mints and hard candy products. We are seeking a Junior Industrial Mechanic with the following qualifications:

  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical & pneumatic systems
  • An understanding of electrical control systems, PLC's, drives, motors & gear boxes.
  • Candidate should have technical background and strong familiarity with machine maintenance.
  • This role involves troubleshooting and ensuring that all machinery operates safely and efficiently to support continuous production.
  • The ideal candidate is skilled in mechanical repairs, understands food safety standards, and is proactive in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Facility includes tablet press operation, semi-automated packaging lines including bottle filling (capsules/tablets), over wrapping and blister packing and integrated warehouse.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend machine blueprints and manuals
  • Must be able to work on ladders, work in tight areas as needed.
  • Must be able to use standard shop power tools such as drill press, Sawzall and grinders.
  • Able to communicate proficiently in English.

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair food processing machinery and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Install and test new machinery or equipment upgrades as required by production needs.
  • Ensure all installations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and protocols to protect both the facility and its personnel.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and parts replacements.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to equipment performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

Experience: 3+ years as an Industrial Mechanic, preferable in a food or confectionery manufacturing or related industry.

Education: High School,

Certifications: Any related certifications would be an asset.

**Ideal candidate will need to be prepared to multitask and be hands on, main daily tasks will include handling machine jams and issues to keep production lines running, changing out film on flow wrappers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
