Job Description

The Edmonton Riverboat has an exciting opportunity for a Small Vessel Machine Operator Sailing from early May until late September, we're looking for a certified Small Vessel Machinery Operator to contribute to the success of the Edmonton Queen for tourism passenger cruise schedule.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for the healthy operation of the boat. You will carry out periodic check-ups and report all maintenance, safety and operational issues to the Captain to contribute to the boat's optimal maintenance and operational safety. You will also be in charge of daily maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical work, chipping, painting, inspecting necessary rigging, tackle and mooring equipment used for service, maintaining efficient condition of ropes, cables, our paddle wheels, and of course our diesel engines and hydraulics systems. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks related to docking, undocking of vessel as well as regular maintenance.
  • Contribute to cleaning tasks and routine maintenance to ensure compliance.
  • Carry out all safety, health, and environmental policies in accordance with regulations.

Qualifications:

  • SVMO-Restricted certificate is required.
  • Unrestricted SVMO certificate is preferred.
  • Experience with docking and undocking operations, shipboard safety.
  • Current MEDS (Marine Emergency Duties) certificate or STCW required.
  • Current Transport Canada Marine Medical certificate required.
  • Current Marine Basic First Aid.
  • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
