Parts Technician

The Parts Technician is responsible for sourcing, ordering, receiving, and distributing parts and materials required for equipment maintenance, service, and sales. This role ensures inventory accuracy, timely availability of parts, and excellent support to internal technicians and external customers.
The Parts Technician plays a key role in maintaining efficient inventory control, accurate documentation, and smooth workflow between the service, warehouse, and purchasing teams.
. Parts Identification & Sourcing
- Identify required parts using equipment manuals, manufacturer databases, or customer requests.
- Source parts from vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers, ensuring best price and availability.
- Verify part numbers, compatibility, and specifications prior to purchase.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, equipment models, and vendor catalogs.
2. Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock levels by tracking usage and reorder points.
- Assist with setting and monitoring min/max levels and reorder quantities.
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments, verifying against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Organize and label stock in warehouse or parts room for easy access.
- Perform cycle counts and assist with year-end inventory audits.
3. Parts Sales & Customer Support
- Provide counter and phone support to customers, technicians, and other departments.
- Quote and process parts orders in ERP or POS systems.
- Advise customers on parts compatibility, alternatives, and usage.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive and knowledgeable service.
4. Order Processing & Documentation
- Create purchase orders and update order tracking in the system.
- Record all parts movements — receipts, issues, returns, and transfers — in inventory software (Microsoft Dynamic Navision, next version Business Central).
- Ensure accurate documentation for warranty claims, returns, and credits.
- Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and courier documentation.
5. Coordination with Service & Operations
- Work closely with service technicians to provide accurate and timely parts for jobs.
- Communicate part delays or shortages and propose alternatives when necessary.
- Support equipment rebuilds, service orders, and special projects by preparing required kits.
- Assist purchasing or management with vendor evaluations and cost reviews.
6. Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow company safety procedures when handling parts and materials.
- Keep parts areas clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
- Properly store hazardous materials and maintain up-to-date safety documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary or trade certification in Parts, Warehousing, or Supply Chain preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years in a parts, warehouse, or inventory control role (preferably in equipment, construction, or automotive industries).
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics NAV/BC, SAP, or QuickBooks).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general office applications.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $24.00-$28.50 per hour
