We are currently seeking a Bridge Saw / CNC Operator (Sawyer).

Required Skills

  • Operate CNC saws (Breton Genya Saw or similar)
  • Familiar with cutting Quartzite / Granite / Dolomite /Marble / Soapstone / Other Natural Stone / Quartz / Porcelain / Sintered Stone / Ultra Compacts / Solid Surface
  • Load/unload machines manually and using lift assists
  • Fully understanding of machine set-ups, operational flow and production requirements
  • Ensuring proper staging materials to maintain production throughput
  • Ensures correct material and slab utilization per Job
  • Checks production schedule daily (minimum) to ensure material and saw production meets schedule.
  • Checks quality of material (size, finish, colour, robustness) before cutting.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and fabrication layhouts
  • Checks dimensions of pieces cut to ensure they match drawing.
  • Works with CNC Router operators and Fabricator to communicate production intent.
  • Receives feedback from CNC, Fabricator, Polisher and works co-operatively to resolve issues.
  • Reviews drawings and saw programs to ensure efficient and effective saw use. Communicates drawing concerns to production supervisor.
  • Operate forklift
  • Familiar with vein matching, book matching, seams and back splashes
  • Operate required softwares (Moraware, SmartCam, Pegasus, FabMaster, AutoCad, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Attending Production Team huddles as required
  • Participating in employee performance assessments
  • Learning new manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring equipment and machines are functional and ready to operate
  • Responsible for machine scheduled maintenance.
  • Be part of a work environment that promotes success, teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Responsible for returning tools and equipment to designated storage area
  • Adheres to all Health & Safety Rules and Regulations
  • Adheres to all Plant Rules and other safe requests from supervisory personnel
  • Performing daily Pre-Start-Up Inspection on Equipment as required
  • Own the cleanliness of the work areas, keep work area organized and tidy
  • Accountable for producing quality products at the documented run-rate
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor/Management

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Technology or Equivalent Specialized Experience
  • 3-5 years stone cutting

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand/walk for 8 hours or more
  • Able to lift 35kg (75 lbs) unassisted and carry as required
  • Ability to go up and down stairs while carrying merchandise
  • Ability to walk and carry at the same time and push/pull as required
  • Ability to work in an environment conducive to the manufacture of man made and natural stone products

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Must complete and attend the mandatory trainings assigned or given by the management.
  • Must conduct a pre-inspection for equipment as required.
  • Use or wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment in compliance with MOL.
  • Work safely in accordance with the company's or the client's health and safety policy and program and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in solving health and safety problems.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Fixed term contract

Pay: $26.00-$34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
