VISION:

SCOPE:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and a part of the Senior Management team, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for the development and management of the human resources functions within the Ontario Native Women's Association. By guiding and collaborating with the Senior Management team, the Director of HR supports the effective management of all HR functions across ONWA, including supporting individual Director's to manage their individual portfolio human resources.

The Director of Human Resources contributes to the development of the ONWA's long-term HR strategies and lead their implementation, including the development of appropriate policies and procedures, and resourcing of HR budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• SKILLS:
• Degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
• Certified Human Resources Management designation.
• Proven ability to lead both strategic and tactical HR efforts, including workforce planning, recruitment, compensation, benefits, training & development, and employee relations.
• Ability to conduct needs analysis, develop, implement, and monitor training programs and materials.
• Ability to effectively communicate and present the critical human resource matters to the CEO and board of directors.
• Experience in strategic planning and development of multi-year work plans specific to the Human Resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), databases, and data analysis tools.

• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of other Indigenous languages is a strong asset.

• KNOWLEDGE:

• Indigenous Cultural knowledge and practices that supports the establishment and maintenance of a wholistic work environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous women's issues and Indigenous women's way of knowing and being.
• Understanding of Indigenous communities in Ontario, including the cultural, social, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous women.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in senior level management within the not-for-profit and charity industry.
• Ability to effectively communicate and present critical human resource information to the CEO and board of directors.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience within the not-for-profit and charity industry, asset that it is an Indigenous organization.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and Ontario employment law, wage regulations, health and safety standards, and labour relations.
• Experience in strategic planning and development of multi-year work plans.

• The ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.

• ATTITUDES:

• Highly motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Must be willing and able to work a flexible working from home arrangement if required. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by ONWA.
• Valid Ontario "G" driver's license, reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.

• Current, valid vulnerable sector check.

The full salary range for this role is $135,300 - $167,959 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
