Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) to join our educational team. This role involves providing high-quality support in early childhood classrooms, ensuring a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. The Substitute ECEA will be responsible for maintaining classroom routines, supporting teachers, and fostering positive behavior among students. Ideal candidates will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with children in various settings, including preschool, childcare, or special education environments.
Duties
- Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the lead teacher, including curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to early childhood education standards.
- Support classroom management and behavior management strategies to promote a positive learning atmosphere.
- Assist with classroom routines such as snack time, circle time, and outdoor play.
- Engage children in educational activities that promote literacy, math skills, and social-emotional development.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support student progress and well-being.
- Adapt instructional approaches to meet the needs of children with diverse backgrounds or special needs, including those with autism or in special education programs.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
- Support individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans as needed.
Experience
- Prior experience with classroom management, lesson planning, or curriculum development in early childhood settings is preferred.
- Experience working directly with children in preschool, childcare, or special education environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education is essential.
- Familiarity with teaching methods such as Montessori or literacy and math instruction is a plus.
- Experience working with children with autism or other special needs will be considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and specialists are required.
- Previous classroom experience demonstrating effective behavior management strategies is preferred.
