We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting store operations, leading sales initiatives, and ensuring excellent customer service. This position offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills within a fast-paced retail environment, managing daily store functions and contributing to overall business growth. The Assistant Store Manager will work closely with the Store Manager to oversee staff, inventory, and sales strategies, ensuring smooth store operations and a positive shopping experience for customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Lead and supervise sales associates, providing guidance on customer service, merchandising, and sales techniques
- Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, stock control, and ordering supplies
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Support recruiting efforts by participating in interviewing and onboarding new employees
- Manage payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, and cash handling procedures accurately
- Implement pricing strategies and promotional campaigns to maximize sales performance
- Conduct employee orientation, training & development sessions to enhance team skills
- Utilize POS systems effectively for transactions, returns, and inventory tracking
- Assist with marketing initiatives and merchandising plans to attract customers
- Monitor store performance metrics and prepare reports for management review
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and health regulations
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail or grocery store environments with supervisory responsibilities
- Strong background in retail sales management, inventory control, and cash handling
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and training & development
- Proficiency in POS systems, retail math, pricing strategies, and sales management tools
- Excellent communication skills, including phone etiquette and organizational abilities
- Multilingual or bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
- Experience with budgeting, purchasing, merchandising, marketing, and wireless sales is advantageous
- Prior assistant manager experience is preferred but not mandatory; leadership qualities are essential
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently with strong time management skills
This role requires a proactive leader committed to fostering a positive team environment while driving store success. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for retail management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
