The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to provide leadership and expertise in designing, delivering, and overseeing force options training for employees across Saskatchewan. The Ministry's mission is to deliver programs and services that help ensure safe communities, safe facilities, and a safe and engaged workforce.
The Workforce Planning and Development Branch is seeking an individual who embodies honesty and integrity and treats others with dignity and respect. Reporting to the Director of Workforce Development, this position involves researching, developing, and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs related to force options. The successful candidate will also oversee processes to ensure they align with nationally and provincially recognized standards and practices.
In this role, you will oversee and deliver training expertise for training specialists, managers, and judicial hearings. You will also lead a team of training specialists and develop relationships with other public safety partners and jurisdictions.
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive knowledge of corrections practices, procedures, and standards;
- Subject matter knowledge and experience in force options law, theory, and practice in a correctional environment;
- Extensive experience delivering force options training;
- Knowledge of policy development processes; curriculum design; training delivery and adult education theories and methodologies; and
- The ability to design and implement policy, practical evaluation and audit processes.
To qualify for this position, candidates should ideally hold a university degree in Social Sciences or a related field, a diploma in Correctional Studies, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. They should also have several years of supervisory experience in corrections and significant expertise in developing and delivering force options training programs. The ideal candidate will be qualified to train and certify Force Options trainers.
Proof of CPR, First Aid training, and a valid driver's license are required. Frequent travel is expected. This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement.
