GeoVerra is adding its next champion to the team We are on the hunt for a CAD Technologist who brings precision, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to every project. In this role, you will produce high-quality CAD drawings while gaining exposure to real-world applications that support our strategic goals.
The main purpose of the CAD Technologist position's primary responsibility is the production of CAD drawings under the mentorship and guidance of the CAD Team Lead and Supervisor. All activities are undertaken in support of the GeoVerra strategic plan.
On top of that, a basic understanding of field survey techniques and upstream operations will be key to communicating effectively with field staff and ensuring seamless coordination between office and site.

What you will do:
  • Produce and maintain survey plans, industrial plans, civil plans, photo mosaics, record drawings and the collection, analysis, storage, distribution and application of spatial and three-dimensional data used in land development.
  • Ensure that assignment requirements are understood and what the time allocations are to complete the assigned tasks.
  • Self-check assignments prior to drawings being given to the CAD Team Lead for final approval.
  • Adhere to current CAD standards and provide feedback as required.
  • Adhere to the use of current departmental check sheets and workflow procedures.
  • Ensure drawings meet client timelines and deliverables.
  • CAD Technologist additional roles:
    • Assist in the development of CAD standards and procedures.
    • Support the CAD Team Lead in coordinating and mentoring junior staff regarding CAD standards and accuracy requirements.
    • Liaise directly with clients and internal teams to coordinate project details, ensuring design requirements and deliverables align with the project objectives.
    • Coordinate with field crews to verify data, clarify design intent, and ensure project accuracy.
What you will bring:
  • Diploma or Degree in Geomatics Engineering Technology, Engineering Design & Drafting Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline; or certification in related CAD courses.
  • Member in good standing or eligible for registration with local Survey or Technologist Association is preferable.
  • An understanding of CAD requirements on various surveying projects. Direct experience would be an asset.
  • Proficient in Windows; MS Word and other Microsoft Office applications. Experienced in the use of the latest versions of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Coordinate Geometry software.
  • Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organization; is a great team member.
  • Basic knowledge of field survey techniques and upstream operations to support clear communication and effective coordination with field staff is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and think critically, while maintaining effective time management and strong organizational skills (applicable to Junior CAD Technologist).
  • Contribute on an on-going basis toward maintaining a safe working environment both for yourself and for those working with you or in your close vicinity.
  • Proven ability to remain composed and focused under time constraints, consistently delivering high-quality work with professionalism and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering design components, alignments, grading, volumes and site construction works.
  • Must be able to import data and create plans of survey.
  • Must maintain a strong technological base and be able to maintain a high level of production.
  • Ability to work without supervision; effective time management and strong organizational skills.
  • Adaptable and able to think outside the box
  • Proactively identify issues and problem solve.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
