At Mainline, our employees are key to the success of every project, contributing to the legacy we build within the communities we serve. If you're ready to take on a challenging, hands-on role where safety, teamwork, and growth are paramount, we encourage you to join our dynamic team. Together, we'll continue to set the standard for excellence in construction.
Reporting to the Foreman, the Grader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the grader. This includes performing rough and fine grading, precisely spreading and mixing materials, preparing and drying roads, constructing road surfaces to exact grade specifications.
Note: This is a local winter position, so work will depend on the weather — expect some days on and some days off. Hours will shift once we move into the summer season.
How You'll Add Value
- Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
- Use the grader blade to windrow gravel to the center of the road and adjust the blade's height and angle to loosen packed soil for grading
- Drive the grader in successive passes over the working area, leveling the surface to a specified grade, and use reference stakes or GPS machine control
- Determine the depth of cuts using equipment feedback and ensure finish grade preparation is within specification
- Perform daily maintenance, safety checks, and routine cleaning to ensure optimal operation of the grader
- Perform in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
- Operate additional heavy equipment as required to support project needs
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience as a grader operator in heavy civil construction
- Physically able to safely lift and carry 40 lbs regularly
- Comfortable working independently on remote sites as required
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a Driver's Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
- Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed-term periods, as needed
Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.
