As a Reliability Engineer you will provide detailed root cause analysis on the reliability performance of all Calgary Transit owned units to proactively minimize service disruptions, improved safety, reduce ownership and maintenance costs and optimize operating and capital spending. Primary duties include:

  • Collect and integrate reliability data from multiple sources and use that data to build vehicle and equipment class and operational severity profiles.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on reliability data, including consideration of industry standards and best practices to identify maintenance and reliability issues, including trends, recommend technical engineering solutions and work with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to discuss opportunities for improvement and with Maintenance Engineers and Lead Technical Advisors to implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with other Calgary Transit staff to observe, identify and monitor failure trends, recommend technical engineering solutions and collaborate with Lead Technical Advisors and Senior Leader Fleet Maintenance to implement improvements.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert in reliability engineering, provide technical support and trainings to other Calgary Transit employees on vehicle maintenance, inspection and testing processes to improve operations and work with staff to improve data integrity.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant professional engineering experience in reliability engineering obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
  • Experience developing a Reliability Centered Maintenance program will be considered a strong asset.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including Maximo, M5, Systems Applications and Products (SAP) or related.
  • Experience working in a fleet environment within a transit, municipal, processing, manufacturing plant or mining industry will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong project management, failure modes and analysis, data analytics, critical thinking along with a strong aptitude for getting results, applying good judgement and making data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills with a focus on leadership and interpersonal relationship building across all levels in a shop environment.

Working Conditions: May attend facilities to observe units which may expose you to a variety of shop and weather conditions.
