Team Lead, Transportation

We are on the lookout for a Transportation Team Lead in Ottawa, who shares our passion for being Customer Obsessed. In this dynamic role, you will play a crucial part in being responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and effective receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of goods. This role involves leading a team of warehouse associates, coordinating activities, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a background in logistics or warehouse management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Role details:
Full Time
Wednesday to Sunday 7am to 3:30pm
Must have drivers license and own vehicle
Key Responsibilities:
- Staging and sorting of items, palletizing, and crating;
- Provide regular reports on transportation performance and key metrics (SLAs) to the operations leadership,
- Use of tools including but not limited to scanners, carts, hand trucks and dollies;
- Daily submission and completion of all required documentation in an accurate fashion;
- Follow all 5S processes consistently and effectively;
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture;
- Train new employees on company standards and procedures;
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of warehouse associates;
- Assign tasks and responsibilities, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity;
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and feedback;
- Implement and maintain warehouse processes and procedures to maximize efficiency;
- Enforce safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment;
- Address and resolve any issues related to damaged or missing goods;
- Liaise with other departments, such as procurement, account management, and customer service, to coordinate activities and resolve issues;
- Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners.
- Travel to other facilities required on a semi regular basis.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred;
- Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead position;
- Strong leadership and team management skills;
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities;
- Proficient in warehouse management software and the Google Suite;
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Requirements:
- Must have drivers license and own vehicle
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs);
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking;
