Your Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Drafting Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience to join us. In this role, you will support the JRS team with producing and managing technical drawings and construction documentation in AutoCAD for building envelope consulting projects and shop drawings. This position requires collaboration to ensure that drawing production is of a high-quality, accurate, and completed within established timelines and budgets.

Here's what you'll be doing at JRS

• Produce a variety of drawings in AutoCAD including full packages for building envelope renewal projects, as well as envelope details, floor plans, sections, and elevations based on direction from technical team which could include site visit photos, sketches, written requests, etc.
• Apply building envelope principles when producing drawings
• Produce detailed shop drawings for a variety of building envelope components, with an emphasis on fenestration products
• Develop drawing templates for shop drawings of fenestration products
• Review drawings to ensure technical accuracy and clarity
• Identify and correct any discrepancies or errors in design and documentation
• Ensure drawings are completed to a high standard of quality and comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements
• Ensure industry drafting standards are consistently applied to technical drawings (ie. line weights, types, styles, format, etc.)
• Assist with specifications
• Implement and maintain drafting processes and procedures within JRS, ensuring consistency and efficiency in all technical drawings
• Work with senior members of the JRS team to develop a library of master details

Here's what you bring to JRS

• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related field

• Minimum of 2 years of drafting experience with a focus on building enclosure and fabrication

• Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD

• Ability to produce high-quality, accurate, and detailed drawings
• Experience taking pdf or hardcopy drawings and integrating them into AutoCAD
• Solid understanding of building envelope principles and components including fenestration products
• Solid understanding of construction processes and principles
• Familiarity with the requirements of construction documents for permitting and tender
• Ability to anticipate potential issues and offer practical solutions to design challenges
• A proactive approach demonstrated by taking the initiative to own tasks, ask questions, and drive projects forward
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with engineers, architects, developers, and clients
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Annual salary range: $65,000 to $82,000
